KOREA - The Journey (part1)

Annyong haseyo!

How I wish I have a remote control that Adam Sandler had in the movie " Click " where I can rewind, fast forward & slow motion whatever happen in our daily life.

I'm back from my holiday. It was our honeymoon trip. The one week there seems to pass so fast that I really wish I can turn back time. Feel free to check out our journey below :

Day 1
Departed from KLIA at 2345hr by Korean Air. All in there were 12 of us in the trip. Though feeling slightly disappointed because there was no personal LCD monitor in the cabin but the stewardess who attended us (she resembles HK Kelly Chen) compensated back with her charming smile & friendly services.

Day 2
Arrived Incheon Airport, Seoul at 0730hr local time (their time is 1hr ahead of ours). The weather was great, around 26C sunny. We were welcome by our good looking, chinese speaking tour guide, Jay (he's a Korean). We proceed straight to our 1st destination, Guri Blacksmith Village, the shooting place of Korean drama " Tai Wang Si Shen Ji " starred by Bae Yong Jun.

Then, we proceed for lunch. Had sizzling chicken with cabbage and kimchi (a must have for locals in every meal).

Our next destination was Nami Island (Namiseon), the shooting place of romantic drama " Winter Sonata " starred by Bae Yong Jun & Choi Ji Woo. As we reached, we were greeted by beautiful sakura trees grown along the pathway that it reminded me of a scene from the drama.

Later, we proceed to Chuncheon Myeongdong, a bustling shopping district. There were varieties of food that we were so tempted to try. At last, we bought some Korean kuih and fruits. Anyway we enjoyed the fruits more actually.

Next, we were so eager to try out Korean style hotspring and sauna. We were brief on the regulation that for hotspring, one has to be fully stripped. Gosh!! It was my first time going naked in a public area. Sorry, no photo of me here...... hehe!

After dinner, we checked-in to our hotel, Pine Ridge Resort. A golf resort located in the suburb area. The room, the hotel's deco, everything was done perfectly well. We just love it.

Day 3
Had breakfast at the hotel. The 1st destination of the day was Mt Sorak National Park, one of the most beautiful national park in Korea. Due to highlands area, it was quite cool here. We were mesmerized by the sceneries in Mt Sorak and took some great shots.

As we were hiking up Mt Sorak, we saw a few groups of student. Pls observe the thing in common in all the female students.

Next, we headed to Taepo Kong seafood market. Plenty of live sea creatures kept in aquariums where some I don't even know there are people actually eating them.

Saw some interesting delicacy by the roadside and decided to give it a try......

What were those???......Haha. They are..... silkworms. Was it tasty??..... Blekk!!!

After lunch, we went to see Seawater Guan Yin. It was built by mosaic, fronting the sea. Superb view. The area was full of serenity.

Then, we proceed to Unification Park. The South Korean warship sank and captured the North Korean submarine in yr 1996 after the latter was alleged of spying and was found crossing over to the sea of South Korea.

Located nearby the Unification Park is the Jeongdongjin Station, The train station that is located nearest to the sea (listed in the Guiness Book of Record). Nothing much to see here except a ship being placed on top of the hill which turns in to be a hotel. Brilliant idea!!

At nite, we had Korean style ABC chicken soup for dinner. Yummy!!

Then, we checked-in to our 2nd hotel, The Kensington Flora Hotel. As the name says, plenty of flowers were displayed at the hotel lobby area.

Day 4
After breakfast at the hotel, we proceed to Yeoju Premium Outlets Store where all the branded items are sold here at a discounted price. Gucci, Prada, Armani & etc.... Nope! We didn't buy a single thing here (lucky me.... hehe!)

We had grilled pork for lunch, one of the best meal for our trip. Tender strips of pork meat marinated in special sauce grilled into perfection...... Mamamia! (FYI most of the meals that we had can be refill)

Next, the much awaited Everland Theme Park, the best theme park in Korea. Waters were splashing all over the place to mark the beginning of summer and there were holding flower festival too. The place was extremely crowded (by locals especially) due to it was a Saturday. Though we had 3 1/2hrs to spend here, honestly it wasn't enough. We had fun and lots of walking around.

After Everland, we proceed to Ice Gallery, a cold room with temperature below -20C. Each section of the gallery was decorated by ice sculptures based on different themes. We were even given the opportunity to sculpt our own glass and guess who were the best sculptors...... Hehe!

Then, we headed to Insadong for shopping. The given time was too short that we only managed to grab some souvenirs. We saw some fortune teller kiosks by the roadside. Didn't know that Korean are so superstitious as well.

For dinner, we had Korean ginseng chicken served with ginseng wine.
Proceed to hotel after dinner. We stayed in Seoul Leisure Hotel (for 2 nites). Our room was designed based on traditional Korean house.

to be continued.......
