GUILIN, CHINA (part 2)

........continued from Part 1

We were transferred to Lipu, about an hour's drive from Guilin, had dinner here before proceeding to Silver Cave. Glittering diamond-like stalactites and stalagmites were decorating the cave and the view was just magnificent! I have never seen limestone cave this beautiful. Then, we proceeded to Yangshuo town and checked-in to West Street Vista Hotel for the nite. We spent some time at West Street, an ideal place for those who like night life and excellent location for shopping too. We bought most of our souvenirs here.

Day 3
Our 1st destination of the day was to Yangshuo for a cruise along Li River to Xing Ping Fishing Village. The scenery along the river banks of Li River was just like those in chinese paintings. Xing Ping Fishing Village was made famous by the visit of former US President Bill Clinton in 1998.

Then, we were transferred to a place nearby for a bamboo raft ride. Along the ride, we were treated to mountain songs sung by the raft men and a woman who guided us throughout this ride. Some of the tour members joined in the fun and sang along with them too.

Here, we had a chance to see how the local people make use of a particular species of bird to catch fish. The bird was tied at the neck and released to the water. Once a fish is captured, it will be retrieved through the bird's mouth as the bird cannot possibly swallow it down due to its tied neck. Later, for a fee of 10CNY, I took a photo with two little cute monkeys that dressed up in costumes.......lol

For lunch, we had very special delicacy, the Yangshou beer fish. It was great though it doesn't really has the beer taste in it. On the way back from Yangshuo to Guilin, we passed through two unique places, the Moon Hill and the Butterfly Spring Park.

As we reached Guilin, we were brought to visit YuShan Park, a historical culture place with temple, palace and gardens dating back thousands of years ago.

After dinner, we proceeded to watch Dreamlike LiJiang Show, a spectacular show with amazing lighting effects and stage decorations blended with acrobatics and dance performances set to amuse its spectators. Then, as the final itinerary of the trip, we were drove around the city for night viewing before heading back to the hotel.

Day 4
It was the final day in Guilin. After breakfast, we packed our lugagge and headed to the airport for the flight back to Kuala Lumpur.

As conclusion, though there were few incidents that I was not so happy with (their dirty toilets and being pestered by salespersons), overall the trip was still better than what I anticipated beforehand. Guilin is indeed a beautiful place with great sceneries that probably no other place in the world can offers.
